The unassailable truth of our political system is that it is broken and no linger functions as it was supposed to.We have had years of self-serving elected officials with a few decent ones mixed in. There have been idealists turned into cynics, cynics turned into idealists and a fortunate or unfortunate mix of both. The elected positions have all become races for power  to no good end. We have suffered through abnormal Government mistakes which have been fomented by individual parties jockeying for power. The goal appears to be for each major party is to control the Congress and thereby control the Presidency. The President is the person who is supposed to be the front man and moral compass of  the country is left (and remembered) as the scapegoat of the people and the world. It is unfortunate that voters are in a steep learning curve on who to vote for. The voting public has been manipulated by mass media browbeating, in your face attack ads and yard signs which are trip hazards. We have become victims of own fears and prejudices exacerbated by the very people we elect. These officials have failed us constantly and we still elect them, in effect we have allowed these elected officials to turn us into our own worst enemies.
