The ruin and decimation of a vital program on the Eastside of Springfield seems to be inevitable. Since the installation of a C.O.O. 2 years ago, the Head Start program along with associated programs has spiraled downward. This individual who was apparently not allowed to serve beyond the bare minimum of 20 years with the state and was given a clear message from her own church about her disparaging treatment of members (she subsequently left the church), she came to the Urban League as a program coordinator then somehow rose to the position of C.O.O. Once in this position she proceeded to decimate the Head Start program with her lack of understanding of how the program works. This method of operating in a vacuum along with misinformation from some lesser informed assistants who in their efforts to appease the “boss” have proffered erroneous data that has proved harmful to the clients of Head Start. To date there have been at minimum 30 to 40 firings of teachers, maintenance staff and client coordinators. This mass expulsion has left classrooms understaffed, the level of building maintenance and service to clients lacking. One has to wonder what is the C.E.O. of the Urban League thinking by not curtailing this apparent “loose Cannon” who is by her actions devastating
current and future generations of children in the Head Start program and by extension their parents. All of her actions appear to be unilateral as the Urban League board and Policy council have been either kept in the dark or mislead on her actions.
