Trayvon Martin


The unfortunate situation in Sanford Florida has created a national wave of what ifs, why not and now whats. The law enforcement in Sanford has apparently dropped the ball on this due to a Florida law that allows a person to exert deadly force if threatened. The basis of the upcoming or currently occurring  issues in this event is not the issue. The real issue is that we have an overzealous neighborhood watch person who in the zealous pursuit of that watch overreacted and created a now deadly event. Was there Racism involved? It is more probable that the  Watch person  experienced a combination of fear of crime, fear of a dark skin and an exhilaration  of his duty to protect along with the tacit approval granted by the law allowing a person to protect themselves in the face of an eminent danger. The ablity to own and carry a firearm had a bearing on this as the law allows for such actions if the threat is actually a threat and not a teenager bearing skittles and iced tea. The idea of this being OK  has tainted  the  local law enforcement and allowed a situation that could have been handled better to become National news and brought in officials of the State of Florida plus the attention of the Federal Government.

    I suppose getting to the truth before we convict someone has no merrit anymore. I do think this is a terrible situation and accident but Jesse Jackson and others in the media have convicted this Zimmerman in public. The black Panthers have put a bounty of one million dollars on his head, and NBC has been found to have doctored the police reports making it look like Zimmerman is a racist, they have put forth a clarification but since they are the initial breaking reporters it doesnt matter much, the damage is already done. These are all facts not opinion, you can disagree with the law all you want but it is a law in place and nobody is manipulating that. I have heard reporters calling Zimmerman a white hispanic….is this not terribly over the line to create tension between white and black. The media is complicit in putting forth a false look to this story to distract from everything else going on. I feel President Obama can comment on anything he likes….it might not always help but he has his opinions. This Zimmerman helped kids on the weekends and tutored many of them including all races and nationalities….doesnt sound much like a racist to me….but yes a bit over-zealous in your own words. The police with errors and all will get to the bottom of this…..and there are thousands of kids getting killed all across our country yearly from gang violence and other…..not many get this kind of attention……sad really!!
