The recent arrest of  Mr. Zimmerman for the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin was almost too late. Lets look at the if”s. If Mr. Zimmerman had followed the instruction of the 911 operator, Trayvon would be alive. Mr. Zimmerman’s only duty was to make the call to 911 and follow the instructions from the operator and allow the system to work. If the Sanford police had taken Mr. Zimmerman into custody at once no matter what  the “stand your ground” law states then the nationwide circus would not have occurred. If  the local District attorney had treated the matter as a serious crime then there would not have been a special prosecutor involved. The if’s show that this was not just a matter of  Racism (maybe) but more a failing on the Sanford police chief and the broadly crafted “stand your ground”law in Florida.  Every American has the right under many State Laws and the constitution to defend themselves. Most of have to be pushed pretty far to do so. The so called fear of harm Mr. Zimmerman has stated is ludicrous at best since Mr. Trayvon Martin was armed with “skittles and Iced tea”. I propose that the “stand your ground” law be modified to create a narrower interpretation so that we can  avoid another tragedy like this one. As for Mr. Zimmerman according to information from Sanford’s 911 department, he was a loose cannon on watch for an opportunity to shoot!
