All of the posturing and finger pointing about the debt ceiling was resolved this past weekend. My understanding is the debt ceiling has been raised but the small details are still being worked on. Those details are the sticking points that the assorted factions and parties have been airing in the news for weeks. Now those small details will be worked on. Why is it that this could not have been done before? In other words all of the rhetoric could have been eliminated by establishing the gross numbers then refining the details. This is what happens when elected officials worry more being reelected and being popular than doing what is required to run the country. These issues are old and have been kept quiet for years by our erstwhile Congress while the people were unaware of the problem. When the cry of “send in the clowns” goes out, we will see Congress coming on to the national stage to perform instead of doing the job they were elected to do. No one ever said Governing was easy but these folks have made the work harder by trying to be entertainers rather than lawmakers.
