Our Own Fault!


In these times of political strife here and abroad, the American political system has been usurped by men and women who are so full of themselves that they can no longer be considered public servants. We the voters have been advertised into a mindset of instant gratification. You hear ads referring to deferred settlements “it’s my money and I want it now!” and not understanding the amount lost in fees to the company supplying the instant money. Political promises are the same. There is no one, I repeat NO ONe who can push a political agenda without the aid of Congress! Our so-called legislative representatives have spent years in office working towards their own futures and jeopardizing ours. Currently the people are complaining about the fiscal problems we have as related to wars in other countries, the jobless situation at home but not looking at the unbroken line between Congress and their relationship to it. We have had several Presidents and essentially One (1) Congress! This leads me to believe that the problem is with the Congress.These vested legislators have over the years sweetened the political pot for themselves while espousing concern for us and getting us to reelect them time after time. We the people already know the truth but instant gratification has become our mindset and our politicians have used it to control our votes.

Out Of Town Call


Recently I received a call showing unknown caller. I normally do not answer these type of calls but since I know calls from my children will sometimes appear this way , I answered the call. It was a solicitation for donations to Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin. I asked the caller what has Mr. Walker done for me. The caller replied Governor walker has done a lot of good things. My reply was : He took away fundamental Union rights from workers, the caller stated that this was necessary after a brief exchange I told the caller I would not donate. I asked why he was calling people in Illinois and was told that they just call from a list with a robo caller. Evidently the Wisconsin Governor can’t get enough financial support from his own state so he is importing funds, could this be because his workers are receiving less money in wages or perhaps no one his stae will take his calls?

Driving et al.


What is the driver’s education program about? There are literally millions of drivers who have taken driver’s education yet are uneducated drivers. There are laws pending and in existence covering distracted driving, whether it’s texting, talking on cell phones or other behaviors taking the drivers attention from the task at hand – driving! The laws on driving are clear and have been for sometime regarding distracted driving and it’s results yet it still takes place. The rules of the road covers stopping at stop signs, stopping at signal lights and painted lines at cross walks. What I have seen in the course of driving is distracted driving taken to a new level. Drivers who are looking at their laps while the vehicle is in motion, driving with one hand while talking on a cell phone and looking everywhere but at the traffic around them. All of this while covering the cross walk when stopped, creeping over the cross walk (almost into traffic) by not keeping a firm foot on the brake. The lines that mark the cross walks are preceded by a wide line that indicates where vehicles should be stopped (if driving at a reasonable rate of speed. I believe these same line crossers would be more aware if they were the pedestrians who have to walk into the cross traffic stream to arrive safely across the road or if they were wheel chair bound. Of course if you are not paying attention to the “chore”of driving you may not realize you are being a discourteous and irresponsible driver. discussions on this range from there should be a law (which there is) to where are the traffic police? It is unfortunately that the economy has put a strain on municipal resources creating a deficit in personnel who normally monitor traffic.

What The Hell?


What the hell is wrong with us? We voters (bosses of the Congress and other elected officials) have allowed the people we put in office to do what ever they want in our names. Our Congressional representatives have promised us the moon and given us the shaft.If we really start paying attention to what is occurring in this country , we will realize that our Congress is not so much against more Government as they are for big corporations that give generously to their party for election expenses. When the Congressional members object to new or higher taxes it’s not for us but for large donors to their campaigns. We have a group of folks who have done what was in their best interest not ours. Looking at the current rancor between the White house and Congress should make clear what we are getting for our money and trust. The political establishment has taken us all for chumps with innuendo and B.S. on a daily basis while feigning an interest in our needs and wants. Exploring the details of the law enacted by Congress to cover their salary increases, expenses, pensions and COLA-WOW!

State of The State


Recently the Illinois governor took to the airwaves to explain the fiscal problems of the state . The bottom line appears to be that the legislature has not appropriated enough money to continue paying for several institutions that serve the neediest residents in several counties. Since the current budget is a line item budget, those monies cannot be put to use in other areas of need. While we no longer have a Governor who was just a shade above a common extortionist, we have the same legislature that has been in place for decades. It appears that unless we change the legislature we will continue to have ineffective government in Illinois no matter who the Governor is. Illinois is an “At will” state and that applies to all workers including the people we elect to represent us. As in the broadly covered Federal “war between the Congress and the President”, Illinois has the same river of innuendo and malfeasance working. All of this at the expense of the people’s well being and comfort which we (the people) pay for through taxes and fewer services.. There was a quote by Mark Twain (not exact) “you can tell when a politician is lying his lips are moving” To date we have had a multitude of elected officials from Senators, Representatives and Governors who have committed crimes against the people under the guise of serving the people and these are just the ones who were caught!
The Federal Government and many states are in such poor fiscal shape at to be considered bankrupt, this bankruptcy is based more in morality since the greed is seemingly inherent in us all (including our supposedly upright and honorable) elected officials.
Initially I began to write about my State of residence but I quickly realized that this encompasses our entire country and its ancillary properties.

What Next?


Now that the so-called “birther” controversy is over, a well-known “celebrity idiot” is pursuing the idea that the President has false academic credentials. What has America come to that we want to believe the worst about a person because of their ethnic background. I am not so naive to believe that Racism has not completely died out in America however when the public has its thinking dictated by a celebrity whose major accomplishments have been to accumulate great wealth (possible on the backs of the very people he hopes to influence in the voting booth) the only reason for this in my estimation is Racism. Americans have been the foremost proponents for freedoms that all of us enjoy and many take for granted yet we cannot get past our own prejudices when it comes to the person who is the current face of our country. Do we really want to follow the lead of media hogs who have no real interest in gaining an office but want the media attention that keeps their faces and words in the face of the public? At this time we have dire fiscal problems coupled with two wars and several support roles in warring countries, so why would we allow incorrect and inconsequential information dictate how we vote and think? The current events and fiscal status of America has been brewing for decades under a Congress that has been in place for decades under several Presidents with this in mind who should we really press for solutions to these problems? Our Congress is as political and morally incorrect as you can get. They have surreptitiously played the race card, condoned improper respect due the Leader of our country and they themselves have disrespected the citizens of this country by their actions and inactions. I ask the question what next?
