We have all accepted and tacitly approved of  legislation that was of benefit to us without considering the long-range implications. Our General Assembly, Congress or whatever it maybe called
in States around this nation have collectively and individually created the fiscal condition we now face. These men and women who have served beyond the intended time set forth at the beginning of our Country’s independence. Originally the Legislature was composed of local folks selected by their peers and only served part-time as they all had businesses to run and other work requiring their presence at home. These offices have become careers for many while the real work goes undone because there is no urgency to get it done. The current servers have the advantage of a retirement plan, medical care that would be the envy of royalty yet the people they claim to represent struggle to survive. All laws that are enacted come from Congressional approval including the ones that dictate the salary and office perks of that Congress. There has been some good legislation but primarily due to pressure from us in an election cycle. My theory is, if we decide to vote these current seat holders out, would we not be more likely to receive legislation that means something for all of us instead of the more influential segments of our society?
