The opposing side of President Obama’s refusal to sign onto the XL pipeline deal is creating a lot of misinformation and selectively dividing the public. The clip mentions that the President is hurting the country to appease the liberal and environmental factions.  The Nebraska farmers who are opposed were never mentioned in all of this and the idea that any major disruption to the natural balance of the area affects all of us. If by chance the pipe line goes in without a hitch, the environment is still affected since the ground has been disturbed and will never be like it was. Even considering that crops can still be produced, it is not the same as it was. If by some slim chance the pipeline leaks then all of the assurances are out the window (remember the BP spill?). What  good is an economic windfall that has long range adverse effect on the local economy and possibly the rest of the country? I have copied a short bit of the words spoken bt various Legislators and Presidential aspirants. If these folks do not have correct information on this , what else have they acted on with incorrect information? There is a clip on Mr. Hatch’s speech on line.

“Last week, President Obama was a “snob” for wanting all Americans to have the opportunity to go to college.  This week, he’s a latte-drinking hipster in a fedora, according to Republican Utah Senator Orrin Hatch.

In comments to Congress about energy policy, Hatch criticized Obama for favoring liberal elites over blue-collar workers. “President Obama has traded in the hard hat and lunch bucket category of the Democratic Party for the hipster fedora and a double latte.”

I had a conversation with one my sisters today and she mentioned that she follows my blog and in the same talk she asked me why I didn’t write about women. I never gave it much thought which I told her since my inspiration (?) such as it is revolves more around the political events. I read several newspapers and I get more correct political information from the Wall Street Journal. Since I do not relegate women to any position other than equals, I should look into situations that women not In The News are experiencing. The only hope I have is to begin to look at specific areas that have been covered in the media and the most recent occurrence is the Oscar-winning documentary “Saving Face” that covered the disfigurement of women in Afghanistan. I have included a synopsis of that film below. It is unfortunately true that there are many males who maintain a general negative  idea as to the abilities of women in driving, decision making and any other serious activities beyond child-bearing, housekeeping and being what the accepted work place activities yet without women where would we all be? You can read about the Documentary on line on the server of your choice and there is a short clip. Thanks to my sister for making me think about a undercovered area of my writing madness.

Film Synopsis

A British-Pakistani plastic surgeon works to help women who have been injured in acid attacks, while his patients struggle to come to terms with the aftermath of their disfigurement.

This disfigurement was at the hands of male relatives, husbands and other men who had an issue with the women for an assortment of reasons including divorce.

Minister Farrakhan after a long time out of the public ear and eye has stated that President Obama is set up for assassination by a muslim. This statement is no more than a statement by another fanatic (albeit Black) who has a big dislike for the President more because of his skin color than any the fact that he is the President. It is still amazing to me that in (so called) modern times we the public have still  not gotten past the bluster and B.S. of left and right-wing crazies and semi crazies who do not understand that their opinion is not everyone elses and probably will never be. Our public allowances of freedom of speech  allows these kind of outspeaks to be aired at a level in line with the public status of the speaker. Our media airs and writes about what information they receive  (with as much collaboration as possible)  and it then becomes (in the eyes of the public), truth. When will we understand that all we read and see is not necessarily the whole story or even all true. I believe it is incumbent on all of us to get beyond the synopsized writing and live telenews the find the truth in what is presented.

There are commercials that target certain segments of the public with soothing words hinting at anonymity in receiving a service or a product. The company that markets these products and provides the service touts the idea that this service will protect the user from any embarrassment in going to a store to purchase this product.  It is possible that some folks might be embarrassed to purchase these products but somehow that embarrassment is slight since most stores have these items on the shelf, ready to take. The only interaction is between the buyer and the cashier who is not concerned about what products people buy. The only true embarrassment would be the need for the product and not have them. This company offers samples of product so that one can determine which product works best, this sampling will only occur when you have registered and enrolled (especially with medicare) in the program. The persuasion lines are: the product will be discreetly sent to your door, we  will bill medicare direct and you can schedule shipments on your time schedule. Years back the only things discreetly sent to your door was in a plain brown wrapper and usually were items that related to sex (books, appliances and accessories). This advertising is close to predatory and as suggestive as an end of the world prediction.

“Tiger Woods has no interest in talking about Hank Haney’s tell-all book about his time spent with the former No. 1-ranked player. He made that abundantly clear on Wednesday afternoon during his press conference at the Honda Classic, where he got into a heated exchange with golf writer Alex Miceli over a question about whether Haney’s remarks that Woods wanted to be a Navy SEAL were true.

After Woods told Miceli he’d “already commented on the book” and tried to move on to the next question, Miceli pressed for an answer before Tiger said, “You’re a beauty, you know that?” and ended things with a cold stare and “have a good day” that put a nice little bow on what could be the most awkward Tiger Woods press conference exchange we’ve ever seen.”

The above excerpt is indicative of the type of irresponsible journalism that unfortunately persists in modern times. If a celebrity is unwilling to comment on something, let it go and move on to something worth talking about. I would be more interested in what Tiger has to say about his playing and how he hopes to improve in order to get back to the thrilling “tiger Woods” type of play.

It is now confirmed our legislators are on meth! The actions of the Illinois house Executive Committee by approving the proposal by Chicago’s mayor for handgun registry seems to point in that direction. This is not yet law but hopefully the main body will put this proposal into the round file where it belongs. The idea that the executive committee even undertook this measure smacks of a drug induced decision. This bill would effectively create  a  State full of outlaws as the current “legal” firearm owners would not be able to afford the price of this legislation. The amount of money gained from this will do nothing to reduce crime and illegal firearm purchases. There is no Empirical evidence that Chicago’s gun registry has caused any reduction in crime. Looking at the big picture, Legal gun sales will drop (losing any taxes associated with it). The statement by the mayors first deputy is ludicrous, all Illinois residents Must have a valid FOID card to purchase firearms and related ammo in the state, so that idea is ridiculous and irrelevant.  The part of her statement denying that this is not about restricting the rights of law abiding gun owners is equally ridiculous since only the law abiding gun owners are affected. This is another look at Chicago’s need to get a handle on reality and find another way to do the job they have failed at for so long. If our Legislators go along with this madness then we “law abiding gun owners” will all become outlaws. This should fall in line with Illinois’ reputation as the third most corrupt state in the country.
