A recent radio show had the Affordable Care Act and Russia as topics and asked listeners to call in or post views on line. Having waited on line to do the phone portion several times before I decided to blog it instead. My opinion: We have a neer do well Congress that has been no more than politicians trying to stay in office by any means necessary. This was evidenced in the past two (2) major elections. Let’s understand that unfortunately these elections have been more about Race than many of us want to believe but the truth is there. Tacit, overt and covert Racism is still present in these modern times and it covers ALL races that are considered “lesser” by those who espouse the “White” standard . This is not to say that great strides have not been made but merely showing that our So called leaders are not above using it for their own gains. The ACA which is labeled “Obamacare” for political reasons has left many people out of the insurance loop due to the “nickname” and ignorance coupled with sometimes innate prejudices. If our “Congress” were really in office to make good government then the ACA would have arrived with many problems solved and the rollout a lot smoother. What we have is 535 little children all wanting their way no matter who gets hurt in the process then publicly blaming the “Black” guy. This Congress has put the country in jeopardy health wise and now politically on the world stage. There has been little support where it should be and when things go south , they point at the White House. The politics of the U.S. has become no more than name calling contests with no substance while seeking approval (votes) from the populace.
As citizens we look to the government to protect and serve not deceive and mislead. Aside from the racial aspect we have not been served and been lead to believe that we are well represented. If one were to take a long look at the individual chambers , you will find them as dysfunctional as any family found on day time TV, the difference is TV shows are entertainment and do not affect the health of a Nation. It is important to note that in spite of any personal beliefs , previous Lawmakers at least made an effort to do the jobs they were elected to do- many of them are now considered “Statesmen”. During world war II, there was the phrase “Loose lips sink ships” but our current batch of lawmakers have ignored that message. It is important that the 535 stop making comments on air about critical issues especially when it involves national security and broadsiding every comment made by the CIC is the same as sinking ships. The only cure is for the Citizen’s to stop taking all of the information presented on air and from the 535 as fact, the prime reason for these blurbs is media coverage and viewers, if we stop viewing and or write letting them know we have had enough then perhaps we will get real change in Government.
