GOP Sen. Ted Cruz on Friday denounced Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr’s threats to pull ABC’s broadcast license as “unbelievably dangerous” and compared some of his rhetoric to “mafioso” tactics.

In an episode of his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz,” released on Friday, the Texas Republican said he was “thrilled” Jimmy Kimmel was pulled off the air by ABC over his comments about conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. But he said he strongly disagreed with the government policing speech, asserting it could come back to bite conservatives when Democrats retake power.

“I hate what Jimmy Kimmel said. I am thrilled that he was fired,” Cruz said. “But let me tell you: If the government gets in the business of saying, ‘We don’t like what you, the media, have said. We’re going to ban you from the airwaves if you don’t say what we like,’ that will end up bad for conservatives.”

Though Carr’s comments have drawn widespread condemnation on the left, Cruz’s remarks represent one of the strongest denunciations of the threats against broadcasters by an elected conservative. Cruz also chairs the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, which has broad authority over the F

“Going down this road, there will come a time when a Democrat wins again – wins the White House … they will silence us. They will use this power, and they will use it ruthlessly. And that is dangerous,” Cruz said.

Asked later by reporters on Capitol Hill if the Commerce Committee will hold hearings into the matter or investigate Carr if he continues in the same vein, Cruz left the door open to the possibility.

“There’s no doubt the Commerce Committee has oversight, authority and responsibility over the FCC, and when the Democrats had the majority, they did not engage in oversight … We will do our job and engage in oversight.”

President Donald Trump has also vaguely threatened to pull networks’ licenses if they air overwhelmingly negative coverage of him, though Cruz did not rebut the president’s remarks directly on the podcast.

Trump offered praise for Carr when pressed on the scathing remarks from the Texas Republican. “I think Brendan Carr is a great American patriot. So I disagree with Ted Cruz on that,” he said.

The president also continued to lament what he described as “dishonesty” from network broadcasts that are critical of him.

Cruz played recent remarks Carr made on far-right podcaster Benny Johnson’s podcast, in which the FCC chairman threatened to take action against broadcasters who don’t “find ways to change conduct” the government considers disagreeable.

“I mean, look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or you know, there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.” ABC pulled Kimmel’s show off the air indefinitely the day after Carr made those comments.

Responding to Carr’s comments, Cruz said: “No, no, no, no, no.”

“Look, look, I like Brendan Carr,” the senator said. “He’s a good guy. He’s the chairman of the FCC. I work closely with him. But what he said there is dangerous as hell.”

“He says, ‘We can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way.’ And I got to say, that’s right out of ‘Goodfellas.’ That’s right out of a mafioso coming into a bar going, ‘nice bar you have here. It’d be a shame if something happened to it.’”

Cruz later added: “I think it is unbelievably dangerous for government to put itself in the position of saying, ‘We’re going to decide what speech we like and what we don’t, and we’re going to threaten to take you off air if we don’t like what you’re saying.’”

“And it might feel good right now to threaten Jimmy Kimmel,” the senator said. “But when it is used to silence every conservative in America, we will regret it.”

The past 10 years has provided a poor path to the United States we would all like to live in. The multiple wars where the “leaders” have all wanted to show their strength by defeating “enemies “in other countries. These actions have all been expensive in human life and money. Now we have a literal moron who has done nothing in his life other than swindle and steal his way to riches on the backs of anyone who gets in his way. Unfortunately, the national climate has allowed this ascension to the top job in the country with almost unchecked power.

The Legislature is so obsessed in having the ability to make the “rules”, they have forgotten what their jobs entail. The “stump” rhetoric is forgotten once the office is gained and too often the party line takes over for better or worse. Looking at some of the changes in the country from school curriculums to national themes, one should appreciate the gravity of an informed* voter base. There have been assassination attempts and successes that highlight the effect of the far sided opinions of our politics. The Post WWII national attitude of victory over tyrants has stagnated in a “them vs Us” aura that taints all of the progress made since the 1950’s .

It is well past time to start thinking in a normal manner where everyone can have their opinion with fear of retribution. It is the responsibility of each of us to sort the facts from the “crap” by broadening our intake of information. There is no” one size fits all” in information but like the everchanging view inside a kaleidoscope we must adapt and accept the information as it appears but with a dose of common sense.

I am hoping the many people who reelected the current oval office resident are paying attention since they are most responsible for the extreme changes in our Democracy! The notion that he would make America Great Again is more like making America “Grate”. since he was played by the Russian strongman that he so wanted to emulate, the silence is deafening except for his sycophantic mouthpieces who in many cases shoot from the lip. If we are to survive this abominable administration, we must show up during the next election and get some real representatives who are brave enough to hold the line against his eccentricities.

There is no greater power than the power of a well-informed voter. Party is not a factor in these elections as all politicians lie! We can only determine who to elect by what they do. e.g. Ted Cruz who leaves town when crucial votes are needed- definitive no reelection!

The current atmosphere is reminiscent of the reconstruction era and the resulting mismanagement afterwards. Gold paint does not impart value to the object painted it just covers the dirt! Lest we forget the events of 1939 when one man convinced his countrymen that they were the superior race and we should govern all others. This brought about a massive buildup of war material which enriched the lives of the then downtrodden German populace while the “leader” plotted war plans on his neighbors. During that time a Russian dictator was busily committing pogroms and other crimes on their populace, these two menaces joined forces and began their “conquest” of the rest of Europe but notably the Russians did not actively join the “war” against Europe immediately but eagerly participated (against Germany) when the German warlord attacked his country.

All of this to show that we have a weak leader whose rhetoric is stronger (albeit) irrational than his abilities to deliver while having his every random thought published and often acted upon by his Cadre of staffers lead by the modern version of Joseph Goebbels (aka) Stephen Miller. It is within our power (voters) to make a correction in the upcoming election.

The terrorist Inside America: DJT

Finger pointer, vacillating uninformed name caller, with a possible stolen college degree elected to lead based on assumed business prowess based in subterfuge and theft. Brief description of current resident of the country’s house.

The “Pinball Presidency” on full tilt!

Aside from the obvious stream of lies and insults, this residency and the associated government members are putting the country on a slippery slope to recession which could last for years.

Transparency: obscure, deflect: current administration’s mission.

The deal maker ignoring his real job-being President. While Trumplestilskin is playing bulky, Stephen Himmler is running the Whitehouse.

GOP aka Trumplestilskin’s minions running scared?

Recent Texas attempts to disenfranchise voters has garnered major attention from the MAGA right. Enter Nelson Muntz-ha-ha!

Evillene was fictitious, Trumplestilskin is real!

The current administration is filled with the unqualified and often inept because that’s what the administration wants. These next 3 plus years will make the country unsafe and demotes us to kiddy table of world leaders. DJT will walk away with more wealth than he could accumulate in private life and more political issues nationally and internationally. It will take the entire term of whoever comes nest to unravel this ball of yarn. First step is in the voters’ hands-elect better representatives, keeping in mind ALL politicians

When Trumpelstiskin says “we”, it’s him!

Unfortunately, we have a few years of terrible governance ahead, this administration with the help the 2025 group has installed biased Judges, congressional sycophants.

Real Clear Politics

“So Trump promised to attack a broken system. I get it; it’s a ripe target,” Ossoff said. “Yes, this system really is rigged, but Trump is not unrigging it. He is re-rigging it for himself.”

And it is worse than ever now. Citizens United was the worst court decision in modern American history. And when members of Congress aren’t begging for money from lobbyists, they’re trying to dodge getting carpet bombed by these super PACs. Senators get threatened every day with millions and millions of dollars of attack ads over the votes that we take.

SEN. JON OSSOFF: I get why people voted for him. Because even before he came on the scene, America had the most corrupt political system in the Western world. It’s been running on corporate money, secret money, billionaire money, on both sides.

And see, this is why nothing works for ordinary people. It’s not because of woke college kids or trans students, because there are interracial couples in cereal commercials. It’s because the people’s elected representatives don’t represent the people; they represent the donors.

And that corruption is why they just defunded nursing homes to cut taxes for the rich. Corruption is why you pay a fortune for prescriptions. Corruption is why your insurance claim keeps getting denied. Corruption is why hedge funds get to buy up all the houses in your neighborhood, driving you out of the market, and then your corporate landlord ignores your calls during a gas leak. Corruption is why that ambulance costs $3,000 after you just had to get your choking toddler to the hospital.

So Trump promised to attack a broken system. I get it; it’s a ripe target. But here’s the thing: he is a crook and a con man, and he wants to be king. Yes, this system really is rigged, but Trump is not unrigging it. He is re-rigging it for himself.

Opinion from M.A.: I have recently coined the phrase: Trumplestilskin: entity who can spin Gold into Shit!

My Opinion: Michael Abrams

The “Resident” abetted by sycophantic Congress will personally be responsible for disease outbreaks and closing of rural hospitals while touting the “savings”. The “silent public” who will normally attack the facts have fully embraced the agenda of the current administration purposely or tacitly are upset over “the Epstein files”. The “Epstein files” are just another distraction from the real issues that should concern all voters. The Neer do well Congress has saddled the country with more debt that will be paid by the voters (and their progeny). It would interest the willing to read this bill and understand how the upper 1% are big winners in the “BBB”. The lower end of the income scale (earners under 50K annually) get zip. The ongoing idea that there is massive fraud in the safety net programs (Medicaid and others) which has been proven false. The idea appears to be that the people who are gaming the system are mostly people of color collectively as if there are no white Americans suffering and struggling. The choices we have is pay close attention to your representatives’ actions and statements, call or write to them if you are not happy with their decisions on your behalf. FORGET PARTY POLITICS, this is less important than the integrity of the person.

Nothing is more boring than watching paint dry or Congressional sessions or debates, both are dull subjects but the only one that can educate you in what your representatives are doing! Does anyone remember the statement of Oct 30, 2020? ” I’m going to surround myself only with the best and most serious people,” the Republican said in August 2015. “We want top of the line professionals.” It’s a line that’s come back to haunt him, yet he is still surrounding himself with sycophants who are largely unsuited for the positions they are in. They amount to highly paid “yes men and women loyal to “Trumplestilskin”. This is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Whether you chose to believe it or not, the power is in the hands of the voters if we chose to use it.

Extra Descriptive: “Trumplestealskin”

Or illegal.

Without any in depth analysis, I have noticed that anytime the Resident tout anything with his regular hyperlatives, it mostly turns out to be the opposite. Near time iteration: “tariffs will make America rich”. Tariffs are a tax on goods coming into the country ergo a tax on goods we consume so whenever we (consumers) purchase these goods we pay a portion or all of these “Tariffs” aka “taxes”. By the facts: the Resident is taxing the people above our normal state and local taxes. He and his supporters are really good at gouging the public and smearing superlatives on them to distract us. Solution become educated voters-aka “all that glitters is not gold”!

If one is disposed to view historical events from this century and the last, 2 major wars are evident. Each one involves a regime of leader whose sole object is world domination. We have in modern times several instances of leaders performing the same acts within their countries that mimic those great wars especially the events of WWII. There are several programs on an assortment of channels that document the rise of Adolph Hitler and his regime. These documentaries are mirrored by the Administration in America today. We have a person whose sole reason for gaining the highest office is revenge. His supporters fail to realize that his action cut across all parties, races lifestyles and beliefs. His primary drive is his personal accumulation of power and prestige(?) at the expense of the country. There is no true endgame beyond what can be garnered from the actions of his administration to dominate and reduce the government’s purpose based on “saving money”. The recruitment of idiot savants to do his bidding or work his will, ostensibly lets him off the “hook’ so he thinks. We will do well to remember that even now there are human beings in Syria, Israel, Congo and other countries who are suffering under the “Hitlerian” method of rule. If you are a voter, you are in peril because there are no lines to block the effects of a dictator aided and abetted by likeminded individuals that we the people have elected. Currently this administration has an unelected minister of the purse, who at this point fired thousands of Federal employees under the guise of trimming the Federal waste. These “cuts” will give the administration a way to cover the price of tax cuts which the administration says will” benefit the taxpayers “yet as may remember never happened when it was put in place in FFLOTUS’s prior administration. The caution: LEST WE FORGET!!! is appropriate again!

Lest we forget is an often used but largely ignored quote that, in reality, we should always have in mind in this age of mass and fast communication. Reaching people widely through mobile phones and the internet has been a great tool for the world population as a whole, but modernly it has become a tool for the spread of misinformation. The phrase increasingly used to describe the purveyors of this misinformation has been articulated in one or more of the statements below.

POPULIST: Populism often entails presenting “the people” as the underdog. Populists typically seek to reveal to “the people” how they are oppressed. In doing so, they do not seek to change “the people”, but rather seek to preserve the latter’s “way of life” as it presently exists, regarding it as a source of good.

Fascism: is a far-right form of government in which most of the country’s power is held by one ruler or a small group, under a single party.

Autocrat: an absolute ruler, especially a monarch who holds and exercises the powers of government as by inherent right, not subject to restrictions.

It is hard to define Donald Trump as any if not all the above definitions fit to some degree. Previous owners of these descriptions were the fomenters of several wars in the modern age which left the world and countries in chaos. It is odd that with the lessening of Historic education and often religious zeal seem to go hand in hand. The people who espouse and follow the above tenets all follow the same path of destruction and suppression which end s up in public uprisings and falling governments. If we allow the election of Donald Trump as president to cite Donald Trump “we won’t have a country!”

Apparently, the supporters of LOTUS have no idea of his inability to govern. ANY positive achievements during his administration were not products of his brain. He has however managed to turn rational people into a national mob who sole purpose is to attack anyone perceived as other no matter how long their American lineage is and what they have accomplished. Without the multinational makeup of the United States, there would be no United States. The hope for the future is to remove the less than qualified members of the Government from service by the vote and make the effort to install reasonable replacements instead of cohorts who should not be working in the Government. Only in a “free” country can an indicted person run for Leader of the country. The advantage for voters is that the misdeeds and their effects are readily available through many types of media (including the biased ones). I would suggest to voters: each candidate comes with some baggage, that being said the key is to unpack that baggage and sort the dirty laundry!!
