The recent press conference with the President after mid-term election was at once a kind of witch hunt from the media in the questions presented by some participants. On immigration the President said: (as I heard it) that he hoped that Congress would work on a comprehensive bill but if not he would proceed on his own in the legal way that he could”. The Rebuttals by Mr. Oconnel and Mr. Boehner indicate the he said he was going forward without them. That is not what he said but these two seat fillers have geared up for war and much to the detriment of the people who they claim to represent. These are the people who no matter what their base thinks are not doing anything for the “American People” who they again claim to represent. This next 2 years will show the people who voted them in the error of their ways and belie their honesty. No justice for all will prevail in this new Congress as they have done nothing in the past 6 years to merit the so called  trust and faith of the country.

My  disappointment is in out Government. Specifically, my issue is the quality of the people we have elected for so many years. Since about  the mid 60’s through the early 80’s we have been on a downhill run as far as the capable  legislators we rely on to run our government. Too many of us never realize that Newly minted legislators and Presidents can never get their projected agendas completed. Washington D.C. is an entity that absorbs and reconfigure people like a walk in model maker. The nature of the beast is it has people in place who actually decide for us (whether we want to believe it or not) what moves forward or dies in limbo. These  “deciders” are the lobbyists and former legislators who work for special interests and non special interests to create and enact laws that may or may not be in the best interest of the country and the populace (us). Think about the last 20 years of elections- the internet and instant media coverage have posted and covered any spoken words from any and all candidates in an instant. This instant coverage is sometime erroneous and not easily corrected. This instant coverage has allowed the worst of us (and our innate fears) to be  used against candidates for office. These campaigns are worse than any physical shooting wars as they are essentially character assassinations. Ones family should never be a subject of scrutiny in an election. The measure of a candidate should be what she or He can bring to the table in spite of the “DC” box they are going into. We as voters owe the candidate of our choice and their opposition the courtesy of listening to their message and deciding if they can do the job as well as they can in spite of Washington. My disappointment is that too many of us are too caught up in hype to seek the real truth of what candidates are about and who their big money backers are, along with the agendas of those wealthy backers.

In these miraculous times of mass and fast communications, the opportunity for the dissemination of correct and incorrect information abounds. Once misinformation was considered gossip as the original data  was usually was quite different from what was eventually wide spread. There was (?) a time when news sources took liberties with the facts as it suited them, now not so much however misinformation once  out is difficult to correct for instance we have two majority political parties who have specialists in finding, altering and spreading misinformation. Much of this exaggerated outpouring is designed to get votes for their side regardless of the ill effects it has on their followers. Wouldn’t you think these information mongers would want an informed base? We have seen in the past ten years endless streams of nonsense, lies and huge amounts of innuendo but little real fact that would allow reasonable people to make reasonable decisions. Of course we will always have naysayers yet the truth once told is soon forgotten but the myths and madeups last forever. History will always out the truth but long after the damage has been done!

I was watching a commercial about the new spectacular film on Noah’s Ark. Aside from the pairs of animals and obviously Noah’s family- I question the propagation of humans since the only humans were Noah’s family. It appears that this is a precedent in incest i.e. Noah is the Adam of modern day humans- or is the great flood fiction or not as world sweeping as we have been lead to believe?

Update:3/14/2014-Noah’s sons had wives so my thoughts of incest were wrong-what a relief!

I have tried to make my blog accessible but away from the obvious and  “normal” outlets. I apparently have a few followers and I thank them, I would like to receive comments good or bad from any readers, no profanity or non standard comments. Reasonable is great but stupid is not.

Thank you

There has been so much print and air time about Religions and the differences among them. I have downloaded several charts showing some of the differences between the many religions. Many Western religions (many with European and Eastern beginnings) have an assortment of sects that believe the basic premise of the root religion but have deviated due to their own perception of how they interpret the bible along with the overall teachings of the root group. This doesn’t mean that any of the many are more right or more wrong than the others. It does not mean that any of their “Bibles or Quran’s” are incorrect or correct. Keep in mind that all of these religious “guides” are thousands of years old and have been translated millions of time and perhaps altered due to translation and sometimes sect preference. After looking at the attached charts, it became clear to me that aside from personal interpretation most major and minor religions have at one time or another have been co-opted by the breakaway sect. So it appears that religions all have the same goal in general but have been used in the name of  justice to murder, maim and oppress many. I have put below as a first line a brief history of Islam naming the two main sects along with a quote from the Quran.

Major sects and denominations Sunni and Shiite Twelvers – Majority Shi’ite denomination that reveres the Twelve Imams Seveners – Shi’ite denomination holding that the legitimate line of imams ended with the seventh Sufi is a mystical branch Sacred text.

“Righteous is he who believes in Allah and the Last Day    and the Angels and the Scriptures and the Prophets.”    — Quran 2:177

Six Articles of Faith

There is no official creed to which one must adhere to be considered a Muslim. All that is required is to believe and recite the Shahada: “There is no God but God, and Muhammad is his Prophet.” Beyond this core belief, however, Muslim doctrine is often summarized in “Six Articles of Faith.” Many Muslims believe that one must adhere to the six articles to be considered a Muslim.

Muslim Beliefs about God

The single most important belief in Islam, and arguably the central theme of Islam, is that there is only one God. The name of God is Allah, which is simply Arabic for “the (al) God (ilah).” The term is related to Elohim, the Hebrew word for God.

Jews and Christians are respected as “People of the Book,” but they have wrong beliefs and only partial revelation.
Islam and Christianity are false interpretations and extensions of Judaism.
Judaism is a true religion, but with incomplete revelation. Islam is a false religion.

Hopefully these charts and the introduction will allow some of us to realize we are not so far apart religiously and can conceivably move forward to ease world tensions.

This article caught my eye and I have copied it in full ( I hope):

Listen up, ladies: more women are entering an exciting field once dominated by men that’s full of excitement, danger, and cash paydays: bank robbing. One out of every 14 bank robbers in the U.S. last year was a woman, according to the F.B.I., and their numbers are rising. The “Beauty Salon Bandit” and mother of three robbed banks in New Jersey, the “Starlet Bandit” struck five Los Angeles banks in just a week, and two 18-year-old strip club workers dubbed the “Barbie Bandits” knocked over a bank in Georgia. The face of bank robbery may have changed since the Great Depression, when famous desperadoes like John Dillinger and Willie Sutton terrorized banks across the nation, but there were still more than 5,000 bank heists in 2011, netting over $38 million, up from just 857 heists in 1965. But before you get any ideas, remember that robbing banks has never been a dumber idea. Thanks to alarm systems, security cameras, and exploding dye packs hidden in wads of bills, it’s harder than ever to get away with. More than half of bank robbers are either nabbed at the scene, or arrested after police look at footage from security cameras. Even when robbers do get away with it, the average booty is only around 10,000 dollars. Not much, when you consider the punishment can be 20 years or more in the slammer. Robbers that score a big haul, and get away with it, are a dying breed. One who did was Victor Manuel Gerena, still on the F.B.I.’s Ten Most Wanted list after he single-handedly stole $7 million dollars from a Wells Fargo armored truck depot in 1983, then disappeared. The kind of tale that leads desperate men — and more and more women — to think they can get away with it, too. It is important to remember that  the economy has an effect on  crime by bringing desperate people into the field. The existing criminals will continue to do what they have been doing all along and occasionally band together to do something big.

ago the phone book was a single page and in no particular order (that was 1878), since that time the phone book became almost an answer to most questions such personal and business names, phone numbers and addresses. As the population grew so did the phone book, at its height (4 inches) it weighed as much as 4-6 pounds). There was a book for business (the yellow pages) and one for individuals (white pages). As technology changed phones as we knew them the personal phones (cell and smart) improved the need for  a book diminished as did the size of the books. We still have them but in a greatly reduced size, the current books are half the size in physical size and even less in weight. Currently  you can receive as many as  3 different books with coupons for local businesses and the same division between business and personal location information. There was also assistance by phone from a live operator, this service now comes as a paid service. There is also a fee to be  published or  unpublished in a directory. There are websites that offer this same search information but at a price. You can enter your information and receive just enough information to encourage your paid participation in this activity. This fee is small but will continue unless you cancel the service within 3 days. The old phone books had several uses aside from directory assistance, it acted as a booster chair for little kids at the table, it acted as a support for a wobbly table and as shown in some carnival events -such as a  feat of strength for a strongman. There was a scene in a film about coercive tactics using a phone book (as it leaves no marks). What we currently have are small computers which coincidently are phones and cameras as well as phone directories which can speed dial specific numbers, send instant messages, assign special ringtones and fit in our pockets. The next big thing is the comic strip concept of a wrist phone. Many of us remember phone booths (which are also going away) to be replaced by small partitioned areas in some public places as the cell phone has replaced the need for them as the  technology improves. It might be reasonable to collect phone books since they are dwindling in size and availability.

Recently the CEO of the Springfield Urban League has been selected to the Board of security bank, while this is quite an honor for her as CEO of The Springfield Urban League ,it is less of an honor for the Head Start program administered by the Springfield Urban League. Since 2010 the program has steadily declined while the administrators seemingly prospered. After several plus years of lack luster administration. Head Start is losing 2 to 3 locations due to administrative errors in judgment, shortsightedness and infighting against a duly elected Union. Through the determined and pointed opposition to unionization, many longtime employees were dismissed to the detriment of the program and its clients (which is most of the Eastside). It is certainly wonderful that that the CEO has been accorded this honor but what about the clients (parents and children) and employees of Head Start? This is a situation where a prominent person whose personal and public espousals indicate that the community is their prime focus but their actions tell another story. Ask the parents and employees of Head Start if their well being is being secured by this organization.

Only in Illinois can simple issues of law and government be convoluted until the issue is not only resolved but costs much more than originally intended. We have a history of deals made and broken, money taken and not repaid. The state is in debt more to the residents than any other entities. The debt incurred by poor judgment over the years has left the state, its workers and its retired workers holding an empty bag of promissory notes. The State Legislature when negotiating with the workers , made promises it could not keep as far as pensions and pay, the agreements made were untenable as these promises were based on future action which were and have not been taken. The moneys earmarked for this purpose were “borrowed” by the State to run the government but never paid back. This “borrowing” has come full circle and made the state insolvent and a “deadbeat” state! This current status is again on the backs of the workers not the State even though on the surface it appears to be a State issue. Here we are in the Land of Lincoln working under a cloud of mistaken identity.
