Our Congress has become a 500 plus group of neer do wells who  exist under the auspices of  the American people. These  so called representatives have spent more time being media darlings than doing the actual work they were elected to do. These Scamocrats and Dupublicans barely take time to read the proposed bills let alone pass anything of consequence. They have made an art of  extending the passage of necessary bills into law that should, could or perhaps maybe benefit their constituents. The victims are the people of America who voted them in. They and their party’s have managed to polarize the public in a divide and conquer action that benefits their agenda, not the people who elected them. The Congress has used every devious means available to keep their jobs on the backs of the people. The people who have suffered the most are the most prone to be swayed by their misinformation and often lies. The pundits who are no more than pawns in this chess game are  complicit as any abettors in a criminal enterprise. It is incumbent on the people to remove these seat fillers and demand better representation with term limits that will eliminate the ongoing theft from the American people.

Another Firearm incident has occurred in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The gunman was a non-member of this Sikh temple . What will eventually come out is another possibly deranged individual who hates everyone and everything. He  attacked this place of worship and community  meeting for a yet unknown reason. Did he not like the people, their method of worship or perhaps their skin color? Are we experiencing  a rash of copy cats or people experiencing the “straw that broke the camel’s back” due to the condition of the economy, job loss or some other triggering factor? In Illinois the Governor is proposing a ban on assault weapons, large capacity magazines, large caliber ammo and certain quick firing shotguns. These proposals while seemingly reasonable have nothing to do with a determined unstable person obtaining what they need to complete their agenda on perceived enemies. These unstable folks have legally obtained what they need to do these deeds but do not overlook the possibility of these individuals contacting illegal sources for their needs. We have politicians who have no need for any weapons  since they have protective units at all times yet want to deny the public the ability to protect themselves (legally). I would suggest that the Political factions who are anti firearm pay attention to what is real as opposed to what is perceived and don’t drink the water!

Politics is not only a dirty business , it is also a political con man’s paradise. The Governors recent blurb on “Gun Control” (should be Firearms) served as no more than a pre election salvo. The issue of assault weapon and high capacity magazines is a page out of the playbook of Chicago and new York mayors. All of these guys have protectors (body guards) who no doubt have high capacity magazines in the weapons they carry and probably have “assault” weapons in their vehicles. These political pimps have no more sense than to insult the intelligence of their constituencies with half truths and whole lies about issues that have their basis in extreme cases of “firearm” misuse and abuse. The Colorado tragedy is just that a tragedy that came at the hands of a mentally unstable person who in his  instability was able to rationally and legally obtain these Firearms and ammunition by following the law. The issue is more about determining the mental stability of a potential Firearm purchaser and owner. This what needs to be addressed and even then it will not be perfect. We have used  much airtime and printed matter to cover this debate yet no good solution has been found primarily due to the political “con”.

Recent sound bite by John Boehner puts the onus of polarization on us (the voters). Wow! This coming from a man who has made a point of castigating the President and his party for the past 3 years. He as a  Congressional leader made no positive attempts to resolve the fiscal crisis and other important issues facing out country. This is the leadership we have allowed to evolve because we trusted them. With all of the  infighting and positioning of disassociated factions vying for attention and public office, its little wonder we are polarized (or are we?). I believe the polarization comes from the specific targeting of certain interests with negative ads about another. This not only perpetuates  old stereotypes but creates tensions as severe as antebellum days. We as voters are required by our own conscience to reject these polarizing efforts and create a new Congress with new rules and people. Each person who believes their single vote is not important is gravely mistaken and is following the path set before us by our political parties. We as voters need to begin the process of  retooling our Congress and their term limits by first electing new people in our State legislatures with new term limits, new pay structures and the idea that we can unseat them when they fail. It is our right and duty to do this but the loss of a single vote plays into the political plan of keeping us in “our” place. Collectively we are Americans and the assorted colors, religions and personal opinions are what makes us Americans. We can no longer allow our assortment to be homogenized by the political right, left or Center. As a cohesive group we can turn the tide on self serving politicians who have nothing in mind but their own well-being. It starts with us in our individual states. The only group we require to lead us is each person acting for the same goal, a proper and correct Government.

Listening to “On Point” this morning the subject was the economy and related issues. One person sitting in on the conversation was Mo Brooks, congressman from Alabama’s 5th District. He’s a member of the Republican Study Committee, which works to advance a conservative social and economic agenda in the U.S. House. The other was O’Keefe, congressional reporter at the Washington Post and David Wessel, economics editor for the Wall Street Journal and writes the Capital column, a weekly look at the economy. His latest book is Red Ink: Inside the High Stakes Politics of the Federal Budget. The Congressman spent more time trashing the Democrats rather than the entire Congress who are all at fault for this fiscal morass we are in. Listening to the entire show made clearer to me that our system has failed because we failed to change our Congress on a regular basis. There is no more fault than ours in trusting and rubber stamping the existing Congress while believing they really are representing the people. If you look back you will see the resistance of the congress to work on the Affordable Care Act but what they did was issue erroneous information designed to scare us and  rail against the president and his policies. With our minds wide shut we have spent the past 3 plus years assailing the Presidents work while Congress seeks more power to use against us.

The Governors views and possible action on “assault weapons” is ludicrous as well as a political ploy. The Gov should be concentrating on getting the States fiscal house in order rather than  his cloying blurb on “assault Weapons”. I would venture to say that in Illinois the so called “assault weapons” are in hands of responsible collectors and owners rather than folks bent on wiping whole sectors of the population. It is clear that the Colorado event was perpetrated by a disturbed individual and you cannot legislate against “crazy”.  We can’t even legislate against our own “crazy” legislature let alone individuals. If the Governor really wants to do something useful, allow concealed carry. The current FOID rules could be modified to accommodate this if the legislature is not involved. Currently most individuals who would apply and qualify for concealed carry are already trained in the handling and use of firearms.
