Fake News From A Fake President


The Faux News organization with the aid of Geraldo Rivera has spoken about Puerto Rico’s problems. TOTUS stated to Faux that the “fake News” is reporting Fake news about what he said. How is news fake when TOTUS said these things live and on twitter? To lie is apparently the Trump way, he lies about lies and about things that are true that he said. How messy is the inside of this mans head? America is not the only country that can elect a person who lied to become elected. 1933 (approximately) a German citizen began his ascent to chancellor of his country. This ascent involved the persecution  of ethnic groups and groups who were considered anti-German and the causes of the economic woes of the times. This led to WWII in which millions of folks who were labelled as dangerous and responsible for German problems (job loss). The buildup to the war was done secretly creating jobs for many Germans so the reasons and  effects  on “non” Germans and others who were not so sold on the program of Germany first was devastating. Many were just outright killed at the hands of the Administration and citizens (neighbors, relatives). After turning on previous allies the world took notice but too late to do anything about it. All of this was done by disseminating “fake news” and outright lies to the people. The economic crisis made all of the fake news and lies plausible since the secret manufacturing had provided employment for so many. We do not have secret or overt manufacturing beyond what exists now but we do have fake news and lies daily which incites the baser elements of our society. If  citizens do not stand up and speak up we will have hard recovery from  this well of lies and deceit. In my opinion the “Tweeter In Chief” who really did not want the job is proving daily why he should not have it. Our do nothing Congress is allowing it while collecting money from us for the privilege. Our part in this is to actively contact your representative by all means possible.

Do Not Choose To Be Stupid


In this year of 2017, we have access to information of all sorts and from all over the world in minutes if not seconds. In spite of this some of us chose to be stupid about events that shape or touch our lives. We have an administration that has or doesn’t want a clue as to the pain and suffering they are bringing down on us as citizens and voters. We allowed the election of a miscreant to the highest office in the land and now are crying about what he is doing to us. How did this come about? This event arrived on the heels of lies perpetrated for effect and having no basis in fact. People were and still are angry about job loss and  a slow economy, these issues were evident years ago but we still elected the same people to represent us in Congress for years. In continuing that practice of rote voting we allowed the rise of extremists on the right and left of center politics. These extreme factions arrived much like Adolph did on the heels of anger and need using lies to plant more seeds of discord against people who had little or nothing to do with the issues but were convenient scapegoats. Now we have an administration that is busily trying to return us to a less enlightened era where we are all separated into areas and factions. We need to disregard the nattering’s of politics and the current administration as their goal is  make us the country that no longer is welcoming and a world player. The effects of the changes being made by the Justice department and the assorted cabinet members will be felt almost immediately and long into the future if we keep silent. Step one : contact your representatives, do not be nice as they are not nice to you , step two: vote- every vote counts!, step Three: Get informed or WOKE! There is not 1 (one) single source for information so take the time look at several. Going back to a statement made by Benjamin Franklin: “We must indeed all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.” – Benjamin Franklin

Dealing with Alternative Facts


I am sure we all are tired of the ongoing  Faux news and short media messages with no substance. It has been the long-standing practice of our Government to keep some information closed off from us, this may be right or wrong according to each individual however in some cases the less we know the better. This practice has no wrong or right but it’s use will probably continue whether we like it or not. The current administration has surpassed many of the past in its information flow. This is an administration that has no qualms in using certain media outlets to get their message out by means of  alternative facts, lies and half truths. While all of these messages are being put before us, the administration is busily overturning previous administrations laws and actions that will eventually harm us all. All of this in the guise of getting things done (even if they hurt us). It would be nice if the administration would take a part of the Hippocratic Oath that Doctors take: “First Do No Harm”. It is the duty of each citizen to seek truth by looking at several sources of information to get truth and upend alternative facts. Do not believe everything you see or read as anything can be distorted or altered in this age of electronic gadgetry. Years ago in College I wrote a speech titled ” you can’t believe what you read in the paper”. At that time there was no internet and all of it current trappings. The gist of the speech was a made up story about a raid on a home, the facts were made up and untrue, the last paragraph gave the true story, this was the only speech I got an “A” on. Now many years later that speech has become reality. Now we have the truth being unabashedly trampled daily and by the people we have elected to represent us. Our ability to get honesty is retarded by news outlets out for ratings and our seemingly endless thirst for sensationalism instead of truth. These “alternative and altered” fact purveyors have encouraged and are encouraged by people who delight in trash. Recently a “doctored” photo of an athlete in the locker room with a burning American flag was posted and taken as truth causing the twitter trolls to go crazy . After the photo was shown to be doctored the trolls continued and unfortunately our electronic media does not easily allow for retractions or corrections.  As voters we need to look carefully at what news we receive and maintain a bit of cynicism on all media if it appears to false, then investigate other sources to get the truth. Lest we forget; “Goebbels used lies to affect the death of millions in Europe”.

The Trail Of Lies


According to the Jewish Virtual Library (http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/joseph-goebbels-on-the-quot-big-lie-quot), Joseph Goebbels said:
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it… “
 Perhaps we can call the words and actions of the current administration the ” GOEBBELS Syndrome”, or the “Goebbels Effect”. In any case there appears to be no end  to the river of lies from the White House and Congress. We have had alternative facts, expensive plane trips, expensive security among many egregious actions. This administration with the assistance of our neer do well Congress has built its house on lies. Every press conference is a litany of lies. Even when the lies are exposed the beat f goes on. Our TOTUS (Liar In Chief) is a consummate liar and has raised several liars for the future. Our Congress (bless their hearts) have their own agenda and it does not include the often cited “American People”. Given this administration’s penchant for hyperbole and shortsightedness, it should be no surprise that the so called tax code reform proposed looks at the citizenry being on the short end of the stick id this tax reform goes through. It is my opinion that this Leader(?) did not really want the job and it shows in his actions. His actions are more like many Americans who see only the tip of the iceberg and do not understand what the rest of it looks like. It is quite easy to take sides however four sides make a whole so it stands to reason that all sides need to be visible and open. we the voters are the only means to fix government, not Congress as we have seen them fail for the past 15 plus years. The time is now to fix Government. The fix is simple: pay careful attention to your representative says and votes on. Remember the healthcare fight that is still going on and what Congress was prepared to pass and tried to convince you that less was better while you paid more for it.

Puerto Rico- The Circus Comes To Town!


Totus is going to Puerto Rico after a tweet argument with the Mayor of a major Puerto Rican city and after making statement seeming to indicate the population was doing nothing to help themselves and were waiting for assistance. Is it possible that TOTUS really does not understand that what he says matters? This administration appears to be making America Great Again by disparaging all non white Americans (sounds like the civil war era). It is not possible to run the country by “tweet”! While the Commander in Tweet is working? (tweeting) his cabinet is spending taxpayer money in any way they choose. This mindless spending apparently is going unfettered or noticed by our 535 neer do wells. What will it take short of impeachment to get us back on track? In an attempt to keep this real, I try to not comment on everything the TOTUS does but he is so needy that it is difficult. That being said, as voters we need to turn our attention to the upcoming 2018 elections and begin to change Washington by removing long serving legislators. There in no guarantee that we will get anyone better but we have to be willing to change as often as we need to get a better set of folks representing us. We have seen over the past 16 or so years that our Congress has deteriorated into a group of seat fillers with the occasional statesman or stateswoman. We can decry the radicals of Congress however consider that they are ones who are standing up for us no matter what you think your party loyalty is. Your loyalty to a party or political group is greater than the political group or party’s loyalty to you! To get to the title of this piece. T.I.C. went to Puerto Rico after a flurry of tweets disparaging the island and it’s residents, he went there with no shame and disparaged them more by citing how much money it costs to assist them, how much dent they are in and then tossing paper towels into a crowd as if they were souvenir T shirts. This visit was more like a circus parade than a state visit and TOTUS was OK with that since he was the clown in the center ring. All apologies to the Circus industry and the Clowns as they are entertainers and TOTUS is not.

Firearms-Again!!


This ongoing controversy over firearms has yet to see a reasonable discussion as to what needs to be done or what should be done. Most reactions are knee jerk and further jerked about by the NRA. The lobbyists of this group are so powerful (rich) that they scare the crap out of many politicians. If the politicians are that afraid of this group then we need to replace them. This is not about taking firearms away from folks. this is about stopping unstable people from obtaining firearms or perhaps other weaponry. The debate will go on for a long time fueled by what ifs, perhaps and maybes. It is apparent that some folks should not own firearms but since there is no competent legislation available to accomplish this we are stuck with an olio of laws  across the country that allow or disallow firearm ownership and use. Most States now have a concealed carry law and that in its self provides for licensing and competency tests in the law and use of forearms (coincidentally adds to the States treasury). This does not test the mental competency of the applicant or firearms owner. We are at the point where there are no laws that cover things like the shooters who have committed attacks en masse. It always appears that the shooter who survive seem to have mental issues ranging from perceived (by the shooter) issues to full blown psychosis. These are things that come to light well after the event but were sometimes noticed and ignored earlier on. There is no way to legislate the mental state of anyone until an event of some sort occurs if the perpetrator survives. That legislation (by a court)  is usually incarceration with the possibility of release at some future date. Where we are now is that no legislation can stop or even slow down a determined person with a mental bent towards this type of action. Firearms in the classroom, concealed carry by the public or open carry are not likely to stop these events but could possibly shorten the length of the event, so where are we as far as a solution? The solution is simply stop trying to solve a problem that may be medical with laws that waste money and time while using firearm ownership as a political “buzz word” to inflame the voters.

When we Learn


When we learn that politicians essentially lie for a living, we then begin to pay closer attention to what they say on the campaign trail and compare that to what they say and do in chambers. There are very few of the 535 who are in it t0 serve, the others are in it for the money. I believe any one of us could live comfortably on the salary of the Congress without the additional perks of the office. There is not much beyond voting that we can do unless we use social media. Think about what can happen if supporters and non supporters wrote or called their representatives with their complaints on a daily basis. This outpouring will give them a better idea of what people want and think than any survey. Most information put out as what the “American People” want is not and appear to be more of a snap shot from selected groups and usually via a survey over the phone or by mail. We the  American people need to leave the opinions of the media on the ground and assert our own through direct contact with our representatives. Every State and the Federal government has a list with the contact information for the elected officials. No matter which method you use, remember a stamp costs fifty cents, an email or phone call next to nothing. Think about how much time you spend on Facebook and understand that the time would be better spent presenting your  views to your representative. If this were done once every day by all of us, imagine what could happen.

2000 Years Ago


About 2000 plus years ago as the religious texts tell us, a child was born in a stable. This child and his exploits became known widely in the then known world. His wisdom, great deeds and his recorded words are still known to us through the various “Bibles”. We universally believe in this child through whichever religious sect we decide to follow. There are those who do not believe in this “legend” however the written records appear to reinforce it. Fast forward 2000 plus years, we have another child who through the apathy of voters is head of the most powerful country in the world. This “new” child is the polar opposite of the ancient one yet many follow and adore him as if he represents the “new coming”. Thinking back to the 1930’s when Germany was in the grips of a severe depression, dissatisfied with the government began to follow a ” Messiah” who spoke words that went against all of the “teachings” of the Bible. This messiah used race and religion to condemn and blame certain races and segments of the population. Using the media of the times he blamed and defamed these groups daily and so regularly that the general populace accepted these attacks as fact and lined up to drink the poison of Hatred. The resulting acceptance culminated in WWII and the destruction of millions of live based on the lies and hatred spewed over the airwaves and in person by the “Messiah”. America is not quite as depressed as Germany was in the 30’s but some of the same elements have raised their heads and voices in backing the “new Child”.

Great Until?


The acronym “MAGA” is essentially an oxymoron. America has always been great, what has not been great is the ascension of extreme politics which does not take into account ALL of the needs of ALL of the people. Buzz words, sound bites and specialty names are meaningless to most people since they do not understand the underlying meanings. The wide assortment of political leanings, factions and subsets have created  more confusion than relevance. The mass media that arrives daily via our home and mobile media devices  assaults  our senses and create more doubt than fact. The well known pundits on all sides have their own and their managed opinions but these are not always the opinions or thoughts of the majority of voters. The Making of a great America starts with creating a homogenous society where ALL citizens can live the life they require while being able to dissent without violence. The firebrands we view are not and probably cannot speak for people who they have not mirrored to understand their daily lives no matter what their station in life is. The worst issues we have at this time is the constant stream of lies and subterfuge piled on us by our elected officials. It has come to the point that  these neer do wells have decided to keep us confused with rhetoric which explains nothing and hides their own personal goals which do not include anything good for voters. We have moved to a place where the line between separation of church and state is becoming blurred much to our detriment. Religion is personal and has no place in politics beyond taking an oath. The recent flare-ups between factions that mirror the actions of pre WW II Germany is disturbing and  received much the same way as it was then. Many people dont like it but do or say nothing about it as long as it does not affect them personally. Make no mistake these actions can and will affect you if left unchecked. Best examples : Castro’s Cuba, Mao Ze Dong’s China, and the Taliban, the results are clear. If you want change it needs to come from  informed voters and information is not a one stop shop. It is well to remember lies sound better than truth but truth will not harm you.

Promises Made


Are campaign promises more important than truth? The still ongoing issue of the repealing and replacing Obamacare is still up in the air but only because our neer do well Congress has lied to the oft cited “American People” about  what Obama Care does. Couple this with the actual facts of Obamacare’s (ACA) use by the users, you have a wide divide. The Congressional (not on our siders) are pushing a program that will remove and dilute healthcare for people enjoying better healthcare than they has prior to the ACA. They have been warned by insurance companies, the OMB (Office of Budget and Management) which is an independent Government office dedicated to rating the cost of a proposed bill that this repeal and replace will be costly and reduce the current level of coverage. We know that the ACA is not perfect but the Congress had 8 years to fix it, instead out of pure hatred (for The American People) did nothing and now want to scrap a working system that needs help. If we as voters do not stand up and yell at our representatives then we are doomed to have worse healthcare than ever before. Keep in mind that Congress has exempted themselves from any changes. All of this along with the undoing of EPA rules on pollution (health issues, global warming) and attacking Tax laws with no clear path to any end. It is unfortunate that too many Americans (of all stripes) have and won’t read the Constitution or even try to understand it yet cite it with  impunity born of ignorance. Our legislators have always promised  to do things for us depending on what will get them the most votes and attention but have mostly failed to follow through once in office. These failures largely goes unnoticed until election time arrives again and many times revived by the opposition as a ploy to gain favor. The biggest problem is that the opposition will usually follow the same failed course themselves if the gain the office. Public service means you serve the public in a neutral manner, putting personal opinions and beliefs aside. The many labels that abound are just names for an assumed position and most label holders cannot explain their own beliefs.
