Did he deserve a first term and is he deserving of a second? America first means what best for ALL of us not just the so called Elites who have gained immeasurably from TOTUS’s administration. Remember the “TAX REFORM” which benefitted only the well off and that TOTUS’ was and is abetted by a neer do well Congress. MA.

The Unemployment Stimulus makes people not want to return to work? GOP members again have no idea of who their constituents are unless they happen to be big money donors. They no matter what they publicly voice, are still dividing the majority of Americans with RACIAL and class  dog whistles. No matter which party you associate yourself with and the subsect therein, it is wise to consider the reality that all legislation affects you and your family somehow. These effects my not be direct but they do affect you. The GOP touts conservative values which means merely that they want to pass legislation to control your tax dollars and  will use those tax dollars against your interests while uplifting their big money donors. This also entails installing “their” judges to lifetime positions that will alter decisions that often go against the interests of most Americans while benefitting their donors and thereby their personal interests. Do not not mistake the Liberal agendas of the  Dems for all good as they have their own pipers to pay with our tax dollars too. If a piece of legislation would mandate the death penalty for spitting on the sidewalk and you were the perpetrator how would you feel? This is of course absurd (or is it?) but many people of color suffered the fate of the rope and worse for walking on the side walk and not getting off of it when someone White comes along. This by the way was just one of the means of “obtaining” the promised “40 acres and a mule” after the civil war which for the most part ended up being another “slave job” for people of color. All of that being said : “suppose it were you?”  Back to the real subject of what we need to do to reclaim the rights of voting and having a voice in government. First and foremost- do not fall into the familiar  trap of political rhetoric that promises everything and delivers nothing! As a voter we all need to “vet” the person who is seeking our support at the ballot box even if they are now in office and seeking to remain there. The process for vetting is: read and view several sources of information and learn to recognize “B.S”. Just remember the truth is always the truth and does not change while lies shift in seconds.

In this upcoming election it appears that all stops are out. TOTUS, aka Donald J. Trump, “45” and several other sobriquets has failed at the Presidency as he has failed in previous ventures (and marriages). I was listening today to a member of the Evangelical community who sang the praises of the work TOTUS has performed for their cause. It is just another initiative per DJT’s playbook of promising and beginning but not finishing. It is the prerogative of any person, group or sect to want particular issues addressed however many of this factions fail to look at  the effects on others due to their initiatives. Just one example: abortion- this is a personal decision no matter what anyone says. The reasons for this procedure varies but in the end stopping this procedure could result in an unwanted and potentially an abused child or an orphan (who the public pays for). Sanctions on Countries whose beliefs are different causing more stress on their population who then flee to other countries and cause stress on their resources and populations. The changes to border policies using lies and subterfuge which exacerbate  already bad situations. This administration has caused chaos world wide due the ineptitude and ignorance of a consummate liar and conman. TOTUS’s poor judgement and leadership is a direct link to the current Pandemic and economic down turn and he has no ability to turn it around because it may “make him look bad”. TOTUS is and has engaged in rhetoric and unseemly actions that cure no ills but certainly creates the chaos he loves.

Congressional Republicans want to tie future relief to work, despite the fact that unemployment is at a record high.

Congressional Republicans are attempting to stop the passage of another relief package for Americans economically suffering as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, even as an estimated 36 million Americans have lost their jobs.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters Tuesday that he doesn’t “see the need right now” to pass another relief package, adding that his opinion had not been changed by a meeting earlier in the day with Vice President Mike Pence and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., expressed a similar view, explaining that the Senate will wait a couple weeks before deciding on what to do about a potential fourth stimulus bill.

Last week the House of Representatives, which is controlled by the Democrats, passed an additional relief bill worth $3 trillion. The bill would have spent more money on coronavirus tests, increased funding to state and local governments, and sent Americans another round of direct payments.

Republican leaders made it clear at the time that the bill would not pass in the Senate, which their party controls. It is unclear how this bodes in terms of the fate of the House’s proposed reforms to the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP); those reforms include getting rid of the so-called 75/25 rule that requires PPP recipients to use three-fourths of their allotments on payroll costs, and extending the eight-week period to use the money to 24 weeks.

If the House stimulus bill, known as the HEROES Act, had been passed by the Senate and signed into law by President Donald Trump, it would have provided Americans with a second round of direct payments of $1,200 per person, adding up to a maximum of $6,000 per household. It also would have created a $200 billion “Heroes’ fund” to guarantee that essential workers who have risked their lives during the pandemic can receive hazard pay; established a $175 billion fund of housing supports to help owners and renters; required all workplaces to implement infection control plans based on CDC expertise; provided COBRA subsidies and a special enrollment period in Obamacare exchanges to protect health insurance; extended unemployment benefits; and increased food stamps.

Republican congressmen prefer to use the next round of stimulus legislation to push for programs that would incentivize work rather than provide direct financial relief, according to Forbes. (Unemployment hit 14.7 percent last month, the highest number since the Great Depression.) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., wants to put liability protections into relief legislation so that businesses can avoid lawsuits if workers get sick or die on the job as a result of COVID-19. Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, wants to include a payroll tax cut in the next stimulus proposal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has condemned Republican efforts to stall the House-passed relief package and implement their own more conservative approaches.

“It’s always interesting to me to see how much patience some people have with the pain and suffering of other people,” Pelosi told reporters. “Let’s take a pause? Do you think this virus is taking a pause? Do you think that the rent takes a pause?”

The stimulus programs have aroused controversy in part because many of their intended beneficiaries have struggled to get what they need from them. Earlier this week, the Internal Revenue Service announced that it was hiring 3,500 telephone representatives to assist people having difficulties with their Economic Impact Payments. It is believed that the agency has sent about 140 million stimulus checks as of Monday and says it expected to send more than 150 million payments in total.

Part of the problem is that, because the government is not able to send out all of the payments at the same time, it has instead done so in phases, in order from the lowest earners to the highest ones. Money began being distributed on April 10 for individuals who had direct deposit information on file based on their 2018 or 2019 tax returns. Those for whom the government does not have direct deposit information were mailed checks in late April, although because of logistical issues it may take several months before they receive their payments.

As of last week, veterans who are not required to file tax returns, railroad retirees and Social Security beneficiaries also began to receive payments. People who were not required to file tax returns, such as low-income individuals, have been told to put their basic information on the IRS website to make sure that they are not overlooked.

Another complication, as The New York Times’ David Leonhardt recently explained, is that while many governments are temporarily paying their workers’ salaries to avoid millions of layoffs, the United States is implementing a more complex approach.

“It created a complicated mix of different stimulus policies, including loans to businesses and checks for families,” Leonhard explained. “This approach doesn’t appear to be working: The U.S. has had a sharper rise in unemployment than other countries. Many jobless Americans have also lost their health insurance — in the midst of a pandemic.”

This article from the JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) explains how or why highly touted treatments for COVID-19 are making headlines as a cure without adequate or proper vetting and trials.MA
Michael McAleer, PhD (Econometrics), Queen’s | Asia University, Taiwan
Informed consent by a possibly confused patient of proposed treatments and therapy, including medication and surgery, involves the clear communication, explanation, and dissemination of complex information and knowledge by healthcare providers regarding the risks, benefits, and alternative medical options that might be available.

it is incumbent upon the healthcare provider to ensure that the patient is fully aware of the procedure to be undertaken, the associated risks and benefits, any viable options that might be available, and their associated risks and benefits.

It is in this context that two medical experts provide a comprehensive and illuminating discussion of how to communicate science during a pandemic, such as COVID-19.

Information can be distributed through a variety of outlets, including scientific journals and social media, even though the ever-present “fake news” is always ready to pander to the uninformed and ill-informed, including academics in medical and related disciplines.

This excellent Viewpoint highlights several areas of scientific miscommunication, including communication flaws and failures based on incomplete and inadequate scientific trials and experiments, especially studies involving the highly topical remdesivir, dexamethasone, and hydroxychloroquine, for which safety and efficacy are presently unknown.

Causality between treatment and outcome is difficult to prove, even based on numerous large and systematic clinical trials, so it will be insufficient, misdirected and misleading based on a small number of such trials that appear in news releases rather than being published in leading peer-reviewed academic journals.

It is easy to be cynical when some international research teams announce through news releases that they have “discovered” a novel treatment of COVID-19, possibly in search of research funds, when the purported findings are based on, say, a small number of patients in ICUs and on ventilators who do not represent the typical patient who is infected with COVID-19.

This is made even worse when leading administration officials around the globe announce they are using unproven treatments to guard against possible infection from COVID-19, when caution is needed to protect the unwary, which refers to most individuals, with the possible exception of healthcare workers.

While technically not “fake news”, such announcements do an extreme disservice to scientific communication, which needs to stay well ahead of the (mis-)information curve.

Why are we listening to a ego driven conman when to comes to public health? The nation is in a pandemic that is just barely contained due to the fractured methods of addressing it. This is a situation requiring Federal leadership which we do not have nor can we expect to have until possibly after November 2020. It is troubling to say the least that the person with the biggest platform is so ignorant of the facts and continues to spout whatever nonsense that pops into his head as long as he “believes” it makes him look good. We as a country have surrendered in some cases to the “whims” of a Con artist for it’s entertainment value and we are now paying a high cost for it. The manic emanations from Washington D.C. have taken over the airwaves and undermined the facts that would if left alone could save a lot of lives. There will be no normal until the medical professionals can be allowed to make their case unfettered by the misinformation stream from the uninformed and the accompanying bobble heads.

Over the years our politics have ebbed and flowed with some regularity. It is as if the wind changes and politics follows. It is unfortunate we as voters have abandoned the art of reading about candidates and what they have done or are currently doing. Mass media has made us mentally lazy and reliant on imagery that belies the truth. Now, in skulks Donald Trump ,a lackluster media figure with dubious business acumen. The United States apparently has (and perhaps still hasn’t) never really gotten over the Civil War (War Between The States) and it’s aftermath. The lack of education for freed people (which was deliberate) allowed for the appropriation of the “40 acres and a mule” afforded to Black Americans, denial of voting rights and living wages. These economic and civil freedoms had been denied before the conflict and continued until even now under the same umbrella of Racism. Too many Americans have been fed the poison of “White Privilege” directly or subliminally to the detriment of us all. The recent protests have been exacerbated by a neer do well Congress and an adept conman with no redeeming qualities. WE as a nation have allowed ourselves to be subverted by the baser elements of humanity.

Our lack of engagement in the political system by “rote” voting has given us long term politicians who have grown accustomed to being re elected based on promises to be broken. The current unrest across the nation over a pandemic that has been and still is in essence “promoted” by the poor leadership of the White House Con machine. In the shadows of this pandemic are the personal agendas of  Cabinet ministers who for the most part are unsuited for the positions they hold. All of this has been tacitly agreed to by us the Voters by ignoring the facts of each elected official’s failures and not bringing them to account. Revolutions take many forms and we need to revolt in the upcoming election. WE ALONE CAN FIX IT!

Bathroom fans: I recently had to replace a bathroom fan. Normally this is fairly simple if you are swapping out a fan of the same or similar size. The complications are putting in a smaller or larger unit and it has separate wiring for a light. I am a firm believer of saving receipts for items like this as most if not all manufactures have warranties ranging from 1 year to 3 years. The unit I just replaced was from Delta Breeze which has a 3 year warranty. I contacted the company and supplied the required numbers (serial and model). I would recommend recording these numbers on the installation instruction sheet or booklet that comes with the unit.

This company’s system of assembly is so simple. Since the fan is usually what fails and my history in replacing them brings memories and groans, I was pleasantly surprised when the fan alone arrived along with a new cover. The fan is mounted with 4 screws and can only be mounted one way. Once mounted you plug the fan in and you are done. I would always recommend  shutting the power off when doing any electrical work. The next thing I would recommend is using the guide to fan size with a grain of salt. The rule is measure the room and purchase the fan that covers that area, I would recommend instead purchase the next size up. Many times we get side tracked by the noise levels but consider this, when in use the shower is also going so in my opinion the noise level standard is moot.

Fans with lights: some fans with lights are easier to maintain when the bulb burns out and are hard to replace so be cautious when making this purchase. Use LED bulbs instead of standard incandescent.

Clean fans regularly, I found that a kitchen brush damped with plan water works good, brush the blades downward, then vacuum.

If you purchase a fan with separate switch then you may have to rewire to have enough leads for the separate switch to function.

Do not have the fan going when using hairspray or any aerosol (this goes right onto the blades).

In summary: Buy the next size up from the recommended area coverage, do not get hung up on the noise. Look care fully at the fans with lights as some difficult to deal with when the bulb needs to changed or cleaned.
