Ted Cruz is at least honest. His speech was met by boo’s and cat calls however he at this point is one of if not the only honest Dupublican in the party. The national party  with great reluctance and reticence fallen in behind the Donald as the candidate for the Presidency. Many of his supporters are single issue voters who seemingly cannot understand what the overall view is and how the single issue vote can bring other problems along that will affect everyone. Ted Cruz (who was called “Lyin’ Ted) spoke with eloquence about his views and while we may not agree with Cruz overall, he has allowed that Donald trump is not the best choice for the party long term. Mr. Cruz is an outsider in Washington and while being radical in a radical party he is at least maintaining his stance on his beliefs. There are several (if not many) Dupublicans who are (distantly) tacitly supporting the nominated candidate for the Presidency. I would like to think these semi supporters are distancing on moral grounds but the reasoning is more about being elected. Our greatest power as voters is first paying attention to these opportunistic office seekers who are no more than fair weather representatives.  These are the office holders who have done nothing for us and continue to cover their poor records with self serving lies and assertions. Politicians who talk about what they have done rather than show it are all suspect and need to be vetted each time they are up for election. Our votes as far as I am concerned are like currency and needs to be spent wisely.

Listening to the various attendees responding to reporters at the RNC convention, I have determined that these folks who support Trump know less about what is and has occurred in Government in the last 8 years. Many of these folks are in Government Federal, state and local. One speaker stated that Barack Obama got nothing done. This is only partly true but the real issue is the fact that the Dupublican leaders determined that the President would get no help from them once they got control of the Congress. As voters we have seen the results of their control. If the truth is ever put out, it will be clear that Political parties are no more than disseminators of party lines and little truth. The farther away a party member is from the source, the more the information is diluted and misconstrued, as much second and third hand information often is. How much clearer can it be when the Leader of the Senate states that this President will get nothing passed and would not consider a vote on a High Court candidate. All of these Political machinations are a direct slap in the face of the voters. These are the same people who always cite the wants of “American people” as reasons or causes for their actions or inactions. Regardless of who the becomes the Next President our job as voters is to concentrate on the lesser elections to make changes in the system and pay close attention to what the already seated officials tell us as most of it is political theater that we pay dearly to see. The speakers at The Dupublican convention have punctuated the discourse over the state of America with more poorly reasoned utterances and deceiving their constituents at the same time. The mentality of anger and mistrust of the Government with no facts results in the current Congress continuing in the same unimpeded direction.

The ongoing debate, shout outs, protests and riotous behaviors have many folks up in “arms” about lives that matter. In a simplistic sense: All Lives Do matter! The reactionary forces have each excerpted the “lives matter” platform and used it to further divide. This plays right into the hands of the true subversives in America. It may be an abstract idea to most but our Congress, many elected State and municipal officials are the true subversives. These are the people we pay little attention to except in  crisis, at election times and during  emergencies. The facts are that these folks have no problem posing a divisive agenda to maintain, gain or enhance their positions for as long as they can. These are the people who since the inception of the America as a country pushed agendas to fight the Native Americans (who were here first), conduct the Salem Witch trials, condone slavery and continue to use race , religion as dividers. If you are old enough to vote , you may reflect on past political campaigns which were as awful as the current one but with less vile and malicious rhetoric. The back and forth is more akin to a school yard fight which never ends and after a while no one knows what started it. Of course all lives matter but only (it seems) when it serves the late comers to the issue or the rebutters who ignore the core facts in the issue much like the pro slavery folks who want the status quo to remain the same. The slide to reality is peppered with snags of lies, deceit and ignorance. Our Congress has been involved in more misinformation, subterfuge than many of us know and possibly care to know. The facts are clear, the money spent on the Clinton Impeachment  trial, the Benghazi investigation, the 1950’s McCarthy hearings all to no clear end with a huge cost to the American Voters. If we as voters do not pay attention to the reality of politics then perhaps none of our Lives matter! America is (was and can be again) one of a handful of countries that has the overall freedom to elect, protest and oust our government officials without a war. We can vote or not for who we want to serve but we need to do our home work before making that big step and then All Lives will truly matter.

Reading so much  of the latest information on Race, privilege and the actions of law enforcement in recent times, I was prompted to look at some other events from just after civil war (this look back came after a history show about the West). 2 Presidents after Lincoln were complicit in what is occurring now due to the destruction and reconstruction of the South. The Southern leaders at that time wanted control of their own destinies without the restrictions of Reconstruction, the Native Americans became a “problem” when they resisted the forced settlement of their Native lands by the government ( coincidental creation of the Custer massacre even though Custer’s Hubris was partially to blame). These events brought us through those (approx. 1875-1975) times and up to now. Between then and now the 2 most put upon groups were African Americans and native Americans. All of these things collectively set the stage for the dismissal of the rights of non white Americans in hiring, education to name the 2 most prevalent forms of discrimination. Bear in mind that most Americans had no personal hand in this aside acting (or reacting) to the fictionalized information available at the time,  As a “modern” country we have yet to get over the “Racial” hump that would bring us close to where our neighbor to the North is. It is true that worst things we have done to our selves is ignore what our lawmakers have done  and continue to do (in our names without our consent). This hijacked consent is exactly what happened 100 years ago and continues even now. Where we need to be at this time is smart enough to read between the lines on anything our elected officials say because no matter what we are their bosses and the vote is how we control them. The party type politics is one of our worst nightmares and we as voters need to jump ship when necessary  as what the parties say and what  they do is often poles apart. One of things we have fallen prey to in politics is the one issue style of voting-get over the single issue vote, there is more to every issue and we owe it to ourselves to investigate. One well heard example is the 2nd Amendment; this is by far a very over used item that does not fill the bill in modern times but big money has beat us over the head with it until we believe it applies so we accept it at face value. Simply put this amendment meant more when there was more wilderness and threats from abroad.

Many people of color have criticized President Obama for not addressing Black issues directly and being more pro black. Thinking about the current Congress, there is no way the President could spend much if any capital on specifically Black issues. Coming into office with an ongoing war and unrest in the rest of the world while some world leaders essentially took a wait and see attitude towards him. Looking at reality not much of his strategy to improve America as a whole came true due to a multitude of reasons or causes if you will. We have an overall innate bias in America which was fueled by many of our elected leaders(?) who rather than do their jobs (legislate for us to makes our lives better instead of feathering their own nests). There are several if not many other barriers to his completion of his agenda that cannot be covered here but to address the Color issue: this is one if not the first President who has made a specific attempt to preside over the entire United States of America which includes all of us no matter ethnicity, religion or race. Remembering that being even-handed in this situation carries great risk because many still cannot get beyond race and other stuff to understand what the real issues are that face ALL of us. Now the spotlight is on seemingly Racially motivated shooting of unarmed citizens and the murder of several law enforcement officers by a mentally unhinged individual. We find our selves in a time when information moves quickly and is often incomplete and by time the real facts are known the wrong information is seen as truth and unchangeable. We can ask a question about being black enough or too black from now on and still not understand or accept our role in government. Our role as voters is to provide for our selves the best government we can by properly vetting the candidates who purport be the best choice for the job. We have become so obsessed with debates as to lose site of what counts in a candidate. The major political parties have used buzz words , sound bites and slogans to sway our allegiance while delivering nothing in return for that allegiance. Until we (all) demand and get good candidates for representation we will have what we have now a media circus with clowns as the main event.

The recent murders of Police and unarmed Black men is at once atrocious and insane. Peaceful Protest has always been a way to garner attention for a cause but we have arrived at a 60’s type protest which involved looting, riots and innocent folks being killed and injured aside from the subjects of that protest. These actions play into the irresponsible actions and rhetoric of the haters in America. Many of these folks are disenfranchised but fail to understand that their energy would be better used to correct the disconnect that is fomented by the very people we elected to represent us in Congress . This may seem to be unrelated but if we follow the trend from the 50’s until now we will realize that we  as voters have blamed everything and everyone else for Government failures. The failures sit squarely on our shoulders as we do not  (or will not) look beyond the politispeak of our representatives. We have come to hang onto the long held beliefs and misconceptions of other Races and ethnicities and our elected officials have used that to gain for themselves and mouth homilies that seemingly appease us. It is OUR responsibility to wade through the half truths and lies that have been fed to us by the very people who have conned us into voting for them. These folks occupy seats from the city level up to the Federal government. I am suggesting that as voters we read more and avoid taking the opinions of the talking heads as fact. There is no lack of truth available to all of us if we just read between the lines and look at several sources before making decisions . In the words of a now deceased victim of riots” Can we  all get along?”, if we can then we can collectively elect a better class of Office holders from top to bottom.

Brexit Effects?
The conversation on the “Brexit” and its effect on the U.S. is all over the place as to for and against. Several  of our own States (Texas in particular) have wanted and (still do) advocate for leaving the United States. Their reasons are more of the Government being too big and in some cases want the Government to mind it’s own business. Looking at what is provided by the Government, are the states that want to opt out willing to establish diplomatic relations in any or all of the Countries that the Federal government  now cooperates with? This involves establishing and maintaining embassies, having some sort of army to protect those outposts. The Dupublican’s upset in the Congress gave heart to the anti Obama and Scamocratic factions. The issue not recognized is the rise of the Tea party within the Dupublican party. The thing to consider is that the separatists are acting in anger with no thought of the future. Actions taken in anger now without careful consideration of the long view will cause  effects that are difficult to overcome. These vocal sectors have caused an already weak Congress to act (or not) in ways that do more harm than good and have allowed the rise of Donald Trump as the front runner that the Dupublican party doesn’t  want but are accepting because they are afraid of losing votes and thereby their Congressional seats. None of pro Brexit group have looked far enough ahead to understand what the long range effect of their voting will bring. The result that none of the pro exit supporters have looked at are that Russia and IS are loving the separation because they can slip in and deliver their own messages . Other major players on the world stage who could benefit from this are not as happy with as this affects their connections world wide regardless of the other issues they may have with the so called ‘Free World” or the West. It is worth watching or listening to our own Presidential candidate and his followers hailing the ‘Brexit’ without understanding what it really means and the accompanying baggage.

Every news report and taking head keeps repeating the words “gun control”, this indicates some sort of activity affecting firearms. The real term needs to be related to the real issue which is the people who apparently are outside the norm and who own and use firearms in a bad way. This bad way includes robbery, murder (in any form) and threats by legal (mostly) firearms owners. These individuals are and should be the focus of any law that involves the ownership of firearms . The NRA takes a broad stroke on this issue whenever it takes the stage but their rationale is purely self serving and designed to garner support and funding (incidentally the NRA does not have the broad member support they purport to have) . Our Congress is looking at potential election blowback by standing up to the NRA”s deep pockets and under informed voters . If an elected official is truly a statesman or representative then they should be able to get the correct information on an issue and decide from that their course of action. It is unfortunate that this is an event that does not happen because of party lines , fear of voter anger and the loss of big donations. I have never found anyone so far that given the truth cannot have a discussion about an issue. This is not to say that disagreement cannot occur but a sensible discussion is possible. The general public has become so angry with the Government because our legislators want it that way so they can paint themselves as friends of their constituents. If the 535 were really interested in the welfare of the country and “the American People” (who they cite so often) then our current state of division would not exist, the NRA would wield no power to influence and perhaps we can arrive in the 21st century politically. The issues that we the American Voter can change are: .

1.Dump the 2 party system

2.Stop believing the same lies year after year

3. Keep in mind all newly elected people will become tainted by the current sitters so get rid of the old ones first!

4. Ask for things that can be changed for the betterment of ALL Americans

Remember taxes are what allows the government to function and the changes need to be to the tax structure but with a dose of common sense and in a reality mode.

The path to justice has many side roads, yet these side roads have travelers who through their various views do not see the clear path until the unthinkable happens, then it is still difficult for them to see that their destination is the same. These divergent beginnings often do not immediately allow for a connection which could  lead to a unified front bringing about a permanent and just solution. Even when the sides agree there is still the original anti part of the agreement which colors the known facts and evidence. This applies to many areas such as Politics, race relations, religious issues and human relations. Let’s have Justice for all or justice for none, there is no middle ground.

The long season of elections is wearing me out. The ongoing attacks and counterattacks are at once ridiculous and unnecessary. I am not sure when we came to this point but all of rhetoric is off-putting and serves no good purpose. The merits of the candidate should be the focus not some past non relevant information. It is true that some candidates should not be candidates at all but this is America and that’s how we roll. Right now we have a race based too much on Race and sound bites that sound true but ring false. The truth is what comes out later but the falsehoods have already been implanted like a germinating plant. We already have a dysfunctional Congress and we certainly need to address that as much as possible in this electoral cycle but pressuring the current Congress is equally important as there are many members who should have been gone years ago as they have added nothing of note to our progress as a country if it did not directly benefit them. These are the “elder Statesmen” who make seemingly profound statements that in fact are no more than campaign speeches in disguise. We voters have lost the ability to reason out who actually represents the “American people” that they quote regularly. We cannot allow the 535 seat fillers to continue to do what they want to do in our names, in my opinion trust in the Government is lost due to the long serving Congress as we    have given them the OK to do what “they” think is correct and at the same time is a benefit to them and theirs. The political establishment is actually the voters as we have kept these folks in the job too long. I believe no one should  remain in the office long enough to be pensioned out, when we the American People look beyond the rhetoric we will see that the Congress is not representative of the voters who elected them. There could be a case made for long term service but I am hard pressed to see it.
